Julia, Andrea, Sue, Rita, Averill, Karen
Route: Campsea Ashe/ Bruisyard/ Yoxford/nr Leiston/Friston/Campsea Ashe
Distance - 40 to 51 miles depending on start point.
Quick blog today. By chance, nearly all the riders in the group were doing the Ride the Night. What started off as a potentially short ride somehow turned into a bit of a long one - tiring too, with some actual HILLS (well inclines) although it did mean I managed a top speed (downhill obviously) of 29.9mph, which I have never done before. Very exciting!!
On arrival at Bruiseyard we could have either turned for home or made it a much longer route- so we went the long route. Av knows the area really well so luckily my rubbish map reading skills were not required. It is a good thing someone in the group always knows the way, as clearly I am not good at reading maps. Sue did politely point out I was reading the wrong side of it today......
The route was really lovely, and yet again we had fantastic sunshine. Elfie was sporting her new gear (very smart), and I had gone mad and worn shorts. It was a bit windy but you cant have everything! We came across Trish and Ed on the way back storming around the country lanes, in fact they probably did 70 miles today in the time it took me to do 50!
We could not find a cafe that was open en route so stopped a few times by the road to refuel from our own supplies. Many jelly babies were consumed as usual, without guilt, as Sue announced that we had already used up over 2000 calories when we were only 3/4 of the way round!
Next week we may take things a little more gently, perhaps involving a Ferry.......
Off now to eat a well deserved curly whirly.
